Dave managed to get a phone signal today to let me know that he's still in Etna. They had hoped to get back on the trail today, but Fire Marshall's feet needed a full day of healing.
He describes the town of Etna as a "Northern Exposure" town, but instead of moose walking down the street, there are deer and plenty of them.
Dave was on his way with 7 other PCT through hikers to the other side of town (3 blocks away) to the main grocery store. They were going to make burgers for dinner and samores for desert (Zero's request).
He was not sure if he'd be camping tonight at the High School again, or if they would stay at the hostel. He was just hoping to get on the trail tomorrow so he can keep moving forward.
Fuel is becoming a concern. Dave is hoping that what fuel he has will last to Ashland, Oregon, where I'll be sending his resupply fuel. Fuel has to travel by ground, so I'm hoping it will get to him in time. I know that the other hikers will share if necessary. Dave has met amazing people on this trail. He just likes to be self sufficient.
