Ashland, OR

Dave hiked to PCT mile 1727 today, which is at the 5 freeway just outside of Ashland. Lately, he's had easy times getting a hitch into town. Today he had to wait over 45 minutes. Maybe his beard, which is getting scruffy, is making drivers pass him by. I've asked him to send new pictures of himself.

He got into town and was dropped off at the local hostile where he met Fire Marshall. Dave had not seen Zero or Redhead they night before, hitching into town alone. Those two stopped four miles short of where Dave was camping.

Needing lunch, Dave and Fire Marshall asked the locals where to go to lunch. They were told repeatedly a specific location. When they got there, Zero and Redhead were already there having lunch! The team was back together again.

They have spent the rest of the day resting, doing laundry, and resupplying food and batteries. Fire Marshall was making dinner for everyone tonight.

Tomorrow they will get back on the trail, hoping to do another 20 to 25 miles. Dave will have a side trip because he had me send his maps and fuel to the Hyatt Resort. It is 8/10ths of a mile off the PCT. Dave will be up at 4:00 tomorrow to get a head start.
