This afternoon, Tuesday October 26th, the mail arrived in Duarte, and with the normal magazines, fliers, and bills was a package from Drakesbad Guest Ranch. Yes, after calling them two weeks ago and asking them to hold on to Dave's package, they mailed it back! It had to be sent ground, so they must have mailed it at least a week ago. When I called yesterday, the owner told me that his Manager was still there and had Dave's package. He sounded like they were expecting him.
Luckily, it only had one day's worth of food. I've over packed on each resupply box, so Dave most likely has at least one day's work of extra food, if not two. Tonight he should make it into Old Station, where he'll get yet another resupply box. The only thing he won't have is maps for the next couple of dozen miles. If he does meet up with the Trail Angels, they may be able to help him get what maps he's missing. If not, he does have his GPS. I know he just likes to have as many safety catches. Dave is a planner and is always prepared.
