Hwy 299 near Burney

Although it was suppose to rain today, Dave decided to take a chance and get a few more miles of his adventure completed. He knew that even though he'd get wet, he'd be back in the evening at the Heitmans. He hiked to PCT mile 1415.5. See PCT Half Mile map California Section N page 19.

To Dave's relief it only sprinkled a bit at one point. It was also much warmer than it had been the day before. There were occasional clouds, but mostly sunshine. Dave walked along side Baum Lake. He walked through Lava flow areas. At one point he came over a ridge and saw what reminded him of the Serengeti. All in all it was a good day.

Tomorrow is also predicted to be a day filled with rain. Dave is going to be prepared to hike, which would mean saying goodbye to the Heitmans, but would mean he would be one day closer to completing his hike. He will also be prepared to wait out the storm another day or two. He'll call me in the morning, we'll look at the weather report, and he'll decide how to spend his day. I'm hoping to see Dave within one week. Yes, the adventure should be complete, every step walked, in one week!
