Update on Dave's location September 17th

Dave's Spot came in this morning at 7:37 am. I'm gathering that due to rain last night, the Spot was signaled this morning. Let's hope that means they are having some respite from the rain. The Spot confirmed that they camped last night at PCT mile 2526. Today they will be hiking close to and around Milk Lake Glacier. See PCT Half Mile map Washington Section K page 7.

The guys plan is to hike approximately 20 miles each day. There is a water crossing at PCT mile 2547 where a bridge had washed out. My guess is that the guys will hike to the water crossing and camp there tonight. It is always safer to cross water early in the morning when the water is cold and flowing slower. As the day warms, the water moves more rapidly, being more dangerous to cross.

I had originally thought that the guys would get into Stehekin tomorrow, but it looks like it will be Sunday. They may need to stay until Monday to get their packages from the Post Office.
