Dave's Spot came in early today - around 5:30 - Friday September 17th. The guys are camping at PCT mile 2538. The guys hiked 12 miles today. Check out the PCT Half Mile map Washington Section K page 8.

Since the guys were trying to hike 20 miles per day, I did some investigating. They have had constant rain. Today they also hiked from 5,500 feet, up to 6,400 feet, down to 3,700 feet and back up to 6,000 feet. With all that elevation gain and all the rain, it only figures that the guys would find a good spot to camp for the night. They may have been surprised with a hut that provided them extra shelter.
Another theory is that the guys realized that they would not make it into Stehekin until Sunday and the Post Office would be closed. They may have decided to take some easy days and get into town on Monday. We'll find out soon enough.
The best news is that next week they should have sunshine. That would be a great way to finish the hiking into Canada.
